Acting/Writing workshop planned at the Anna Arts Center

<p class="p1">James Roberts will conduct a two day workshop at the Anna Arts Center on Feb. 7 and 8. A native of Anna, Roberts spent a quarter of his life in Los Angeles working as a professional actor/writer in film, television and theatre. </p><p class="p1">He excelled in the position of Creative Director at various production companies including Meathouse Productions where he worked as Personal Creative Consultant for Academy Award Winning writer, Billy Bob Thornton. </p><p class="p1">Roberts also taught Intensive Method Acting at the Van Mar Academy in Hollywood for six years.  With over 100 credits under his belt, Roberts looks forward to sharing some of the stories, techniques and skills he has gained throughout his travels.</p><p class="p1">The schedule of events are:</p><p class="p1">Saturday, Feb. 7, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. – “Scene Study and Script Analysis” seminar geared to the construction of a piece. This will be aimed more toward the writing side of things.  Explaining and dissecting things like plot points, hooks, formatting, structure, etc.  The seminar will be an introduction to the foundation of character building.</p><p class="p1">Sunday, Feb. 8, 1p.m. to 5 p.m. – "Up and Moving" seminar targeted solely on acting. <span class="s1">The focus will</span> be highlighting preparation, auditioning, objectives, voice and movement, stage presence and etiquette and topped off with prepared scenes/monologues and improvisation.</p><p class="p1">All participants are encouraged to bring their own material to one or both of the seminars.</p><p class="p1">There is no minimum age to attend the workshop and the cost is $40.
