The filing period for school board elections began Dec. 12 and continues through Dec. 19. Nominating petitions are filed at the Union County clerk’s office in Jonesboro.

Students gathered around the flag pole in front of Anna Junior High/Davie School Wednesday morning, Sept. 28, before school to pray together for the country and for their school leadership.
The event was part of the national “See You at the Pole” program that focused on the theme, “We Cry Out.”
Avery Page tossed a three-hitter to lead the Anna Junior High School softball team to a 9-3 win over Adams of Marion for the Class M regional championship at Creal Springs Wednesday, Sept. 21.

The Union County Alliance of Churches is planning to sponsor prayer walks at eight Union County schools next week.
Host churches are scheduled to lead the prayer walks and members of the community are invited to participate.

Sole Camp, a summer running camp for girls in 4th through 8th grade, is coming to Union County starting the week of Aug. 15.
Camp participants will meet twice a week to run and gradually build up to a run in the Sole Challenge on the first Saturday of October with their coaches.
