Anna man sentenced for escape

Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds reported on Dec. 21 that Mark C. Cole, 39, of 313 Church St. in Anna had been sentencted to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for escape, which is a Class 2 felony.

Cole was charged with escape after he briefly ran from Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies in October 2012.

Cole was in custody at the time and fled on foot while he was being transported from an appearance in court.

Cole also was sentenced to a concurrent terem of six years for retail theft, a Class 4 felony.

Cole was arrested on that charge in October 2012 by the Anna Police Department after taking merchandise from an Anna retailer.
