Anna Presbyterian church to present Christmas play

Presentations of a Christmas play are planned Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 11-12, at the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Anna.

The play, titled, “Upon This Night,” will be presented at 7 p.m. each day.

The church is at the corner of South and Jefferson streets. There will be no admission charge and no offering taken.

The play features 47 cast members. Members of the cast range in age from 4 through older than 80.

Eleven behind-the-scenes workers will help with the production.

“Upon This Night” features three storylines set in 1917 which intertwine to tell the Christmas story.

The three stories are about a widower, his five children and a lonely little boy; a bunker overseas during World War I; and Bethlehem, where the Christmas story is told through scriptures.

The play ends with a spirit of hope through the message of the manger.
