Anna students receive honors at recent district music contest

The Anna Junior High School music department competed in the recent Illinois Grade School Music Association’s district solo and ensemble contest.

The contest was May 2 at Centralia Junior High School in Centralia.

Anna Junior High School received four first superior ratings, seven Division 1 ratings and one Division 2 rating.

The following Anna students received first superior ratings:

Female voice solo: Olivia Gordon, Janna Harner, Amber Skelton.

Treble ensemble: Timbre Craig, Katie Whiteside, Jenna Collier, Amanda Halter.

The following students receive Division 1 ratings:

Flute solo: Kelsey Hiller.

Female voice solo: Jessica Barlow, Delaney Plott.

Treble ensemble: Miranda Baggott, Amber Skelton. Karli Soule, Jamie Jordan, Miranda Baggott, Katie Malnar. Katie Whiteside, Jenna Collier, Amanda Halter, Cheyenne Lingle.

Lab band: Kelsey Hiller, Amanda Halter, Delaney Plott, Ashley Moore, Carly Biggs, Jered Toler, Jessica Dillow, Evan Hughey, Chance Bartolomucci, Austin Mixen, Jacob Barger, Victoria Hopkins, Nick Ward, Steven Wells, Caleb Franklin-Searby, Matt Mellar, Kaitlyn Gerharv, Micah Mathewson.

Tori Hopkins received a Division 2 rating in the female vocal solo category.
