A freeze warning was issued for Tuesday night and Wednesday morning in parts of Southern Illinois, Southeast Missouri and Western Kentucky.
Jim “John” Smith, 83, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, April 7, 2020, in Cobden.
He was born on Oct. 18, 1936, in Salem, the son of Sam and Gladys Phelps Smith.
Colleen C. Deppe, nee Muren, 89, of Swansea, was born on Aug. 15, 1930, in Belleville, and died Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at Freeburg Care Center in Freeburg.
Wilma Lula, nee Loomis, Egelston, 105, of Freeburg, and formerly of Salem, Chicago, Cicero and Jonesboro, died peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2020.
Roy E. Walker, 61, of Jonesboro, died Friday, April 10, at Union County Hospital in Anna.
Funeral arrangements were pending at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
Southern Seven Health Department (S7HD) confirms the first case of COVID-19 in Union County. The individual is a male in his 20s and is being isolated.
River levels have been falling during the past week in the region.
