Arena Golf, Cape Girardeau, offers professionally designed, constructed putt putt course

Arena Golf in Cape Girardeau now is the home of the area’s only professionally designed and constructed putt putt golf course.

The new course opened last weekend at the recreation complext located at 2901 Hawthorn St.

Bryan and Tyra Johnson of Cape Girardeau are the owners of Arena Golf.

The Johnsons purchased the facility in February and continue to make improvements to the longstanding business.

Beginners and avid golfers will enjoy and be challenged by the course, which includes water and many obstacles.

The course can only be compared to similar courses found at expensive resorts in Florida, Arizona and California.

Along with the new construction comes new equipment and golf balls.

Established golfers are welcome to use their own putter to enhance their game and to improve their handicap.

Castle Golf of Mesa, Ariz., was contracted to complete a recent six-week construction project at the Cape Girardeau course. Castle Golf is a nationally known leader in design and construction work.

The course is open daily. It is handicapped accessible. The course is lighted and is open year-around. It is available for birthday parties and fund-raising events.

The Johnsons said that league and tournament play are planned.

The new, 18-hole putt putt course is a key part of the Arena Golf recreational complex, which includes a driving range, batting cages and a complete retail golf shop.

Lessons are available for those at all levels of golf skills. Video and swing analysis is offered.

Golfers who consider themselves to be more accomplished can look forward to the addition of a green tee this spring, rather than the usual matt surface.
