Bessie Irene Baker

Bessie Irene Baker, 75, of Cobden, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at her home.

She was born on April 28, 1934, in Arbyrd, Mo., the daughter of William and Ollie Thomas Sorrels, but was raised by her aunt, Birdie Jane Tucker.

She was married to Charles R. Baker and enjoyed over 50 years of marriage.

Bessie is survived by her husband, Charles of Cobden; three children, Ermal (Cami) Sorrels of Jonesboro, Charles J. Baker of Cobden and Jane Baker of Cobden; a granddaughter, Shonda Sorrels of Cape Girardeau; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt, Birdie Jane Tucker; a sister, Mary Lee Roberts; two brothers, Essel Sorrels and Edward B. Sorrels; and by a foster sister, Lois Miller.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Irene Baker were at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with the Rev. Clifford Heil officiating. Interment was in the Alto Pass Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Alto Pass Cemetery.
