Cairo outscores A-J 75-56 in boy's basketball
Cairo made 11 3-pointers, helping them defeat host Anna-Jonesboro 75-56 in non-conference high school boys’ basketball Monday, Jan. 30.
The Wildcats trailed 20-10 after one quarter and 38-29 at halftime. Cairo led 64-43 heading into the final quarter.
A-J was able to cut the lead to 4 points early in the third quarter. The Pilots would hit three consecutive 3-pointers in the midst of an 11-1 scoring run to seal the win.
Brady Wright scored 31 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Wildcats. Jay Kemp added 9 points, Tyler Vaughn 7, Travis Smith 5 and Cody Garver and Noah Fuller 2 each.
A-J shot 43 percent (20-46) from the field. They shot 5 of 16 from 3-point range, 15 of 30 from 2-point range and 11 of 20 from the free throw line.
The Pilots shot 52 percent (30-58) from the field. They shot 11 of 27 from 3-point range, 19 of 31 from 2-point range and 4 of 10 from the free throw line.
Cairo improved to 10-11 overall. A-J fell to 13-12.
