Carol Lee Sims

Carol Lee Sims, 59, of Cobden, IL, died at 11:05 p.m. Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, IL.

     Ms. Sims was born on August 15, 1951 in Denver, CO the daughter of Van Franklin Sims and Leota Faye (Taylor) Sims.

     Carol was a nurses aide, worked in the ministry, and enjoyed taking care of children.  She was a member of the Family Worship Center, Johnston City, IL.

     Surviving relatives include three children, Stephanie Owens, Arizona, Jerry Robert Owens and Jimmy Owens, both of Kansas, fourteen grandchildren, two brothers, Thomas Edward Sims and wife Lisa, Bondwell, KY, Van F. Sims and wife Dee, South Carolina, three sisters, Rose Ann Glimpse, Garnett, KS, Frankie Marlene O’Meara, Cobden, IL, Robin Marie Strain, Spring Hill, KS, a niece, Alice and husband Dwight Summers, Akin, IL and several other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, Jessica Brown, California, Megan Brown, Anna, IL, Joshua Lee Trammel, Carbondale, IL, Kaleb Wayne Brown, Akin, IL, Casey Michelle Brown, Akin, IL, Heather and husband Charlie Haynes, Missouri, Jason Summers, Portland, OR, Justin Summers, Akin, IL, and several other great-nieces and great-nephews.

     Ms. Sims was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Diana Faye Morse.

     Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL.  A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Charles Jennings officiating.  Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010 in the Casper Cemetery, Cobden, IL.
