Carterville ends season for A-J girls
Carterville avenged an earlier loss to Anna-Jonesboro with a 56-49 win in first-round action of the Class 2A high school girls’ basketball regional at Murphysboro Tuesday, Feb. 9.
The Lady Wildcats led 19-15 after one quarter and were ahead 20-19 at the half.
A-J led 31-30 going into the final period but the Lady Lions went on a 16-8 run in the frame to post the come-from-behind win.
Emma Basler scored 18 points to lead the Lady Wildcats.
Chandra Parr added 10 points, Rachel Hayden 8, Destiny Dillow 7, Jessi Stone 4 and Valerie Pender 2.
The Lady Wildcats had 6 3-pointers with Hayden and Parr leading the way with two apiece.
A-J finished its season at 10-17 overall.
