Cecil E. Franklin

<strong>            Mr. Cecil E. Franklin, 80 of Jonesboro, went to be with the Lord at 6:19 p.m. Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.  He was born September 15, 1932 in Pomona, the son of Clarence E. and Ethel Cauble Franklin.  He married Glenda Lingle on August 3, 1978 in Grand Tower.</strong>

<strong>            Cecil is survived by his wife, Glenda Franklin of Jonesboro; 3 children, Maury Lee (Esther) Franklin of Mounds, Sherry Lee (Rick) Ellet of Carterville, and Clyde “Rusty” (Marilyn) Arnold of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Jennifer Elaine Carter of Clinton, Nicole Marie Ternes of Peoria, Christina Dawn Porter of  Glenburnie, Maryland, Amber Joy (Shayne) Seely of Galatia, Cory Glenn Ellet of Carterville; Kim (Scott) Swain of Jonesboro; 3 great-grandchildren, Caitlan and Jessica Porter, and Colton Swain; one brother, Gerald (Susie)Franklin of Grand Tower; three sisters, Evelyn McCaleb of Grand Tower, Shirley Colyer of Thebes, and Darlene Carre of Scott City, Missouri; and son-in-law, Lloyd “Red” Dunn of Jonesboro; other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Cecil E. Franklin, Jr.; daughter Claudia Dunn; and granddaughter, Carmen Dunn.</strong>

<strong>            Cecil was a member of the Anna First Baptist Church.  Cecil was a Christian man who loved the Lord and loved his family.  He loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, trapping, growing his own garden, and also enjoyed digging roots.  He loved to travel and had planned a trip to Costa Rica with his wife, Glenda.  Cecil held honorary memberships in Masonic Lodges throughout southern Illinois and was a member and past master of the Anna Masonic Lodge #520 AF&AM and the Dongola Masonic Lodge #581 AF&AM.  He was a 32<sup>nd</sup> Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of southern Illinois.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He retired from CIPS Company in 1992 after 26 years of service and he was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #148.</strong>

<strong>            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Les Sinks officiating.  Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery with military honors at the graveside by the</strong>

<strong>Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Team in Marion.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening December 12, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Children’s Home in Murphysboro or the donor’s church of choice.  Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.</strong>
