Cobden hosts successful homecoming
Cobden High School hosted a successful homecoming celebration last weekend.
Some of the highlights from homecoming follow:
Alumni Game: A large crowd attended the Cobden Appleknocker alumni game last Saturday.
Former men's and women's players from four decades competed
Dozens of door prizes were awarded. A social/fellowship for players and Cobden alumni followed the games.
Because of this year's success, organizers already are planning for an even bigger alumni event next year. The organizers thank everyone for their support this year.
Danny Ballance Honored: Former Appleknocker mascot and long-time Cobden supporter Danny Ballance, who died last September, was honored during halftime ceremonies at the Cobden homecoming basketball game Friday night.
A memorial plaque, to be hung in the high school gym lobby, was presented to his wife, Ginger, and family from the Cobden class of 1973.
In addition, the Danny Ballance Spirit Award will be presented annually to a Cobden High School student on awards day beginning this spring.
