Cobden outscores Shawnee

Taylor Orsburn scored 15 points to power Cobden to a 45-34 win over host Shawnee in South Egyptian Conference high school girls’ basketball Thursday, Jan. 14.

Ana Duda and Katelyn Wiggs added 11 points apiece for the Appleknockers. Kayla Quertermous had 4 points, Mara Hackethal 3 and Rebekah Russell 1.

Kaylee Boston had 15 points to lead the Lady Reds. Jessie Reynolds added 9 points, Taylor Ellis and Jonnie Ellet 3 apiece and Jordan Johnson 1.

Cobden led 9-7 after one quarter and 17-14 at the half.

The Appleknockers went on a 16-3 run in the third quarter to build a 33-17 advantage going into the final period.

Cobden improved to 15-3 overall and 2-0 in the SEC. Shawnee fell to 6-7 overall and 1-3 in the league.
