Cobden, Shawnee fall at Sesser-Valier tourney
Cobden and Shawnee lost in first-round action at the Sesser-Valier boys’ high school holiday basketball tournament Monday, Dec. 26.
S-V 59, Cobden 25: The Red Devils built an early lead on their way to the win.
S-V led 22-6 after one quarter and 39-8 at the half. The Red Devils held a 53-19 win headed into the final period.
Austin Flamm had 8 points to lead the Appleknockers. Tyler Lewey added 7 points, Josh Aspen 4 and Nathan Sweitzer, Joseph Eck and Parker Flamm 2 apiece.
Woodlawn 92, Shawnee 40: Andrew Livesay scored 12 points to lead the Redskins in the loss.
Aiden McMahan added 10 points for Shawnee. Austin Treece netted 8 points, Gage Shelton 5, Gavyn Ellet 3 and Gary Pind 2.
The Cardinals led 26-15 after one quarter and 51-30 at the half. Woodlawn was in front 77-36 going into the final period.
On Wednesday, Shawnee, 2-8, was scheduled to play Vienna and Cobden, 2-9, was to face Christopher.
The championship rounds are scheduled for Thursday, today.
