A community of giving

The 2011 Union County Christmas Project again was a great success, organizers Debbie Jackson and Karen Funkhouser report. The project provided Christmas gifts for 420 children. Jackson and Funkhouser shared the following update about the project:

It was at times overwhelming, but that success was due to the wonderful community that we live in.

Our community of sponsors has been working together for many, many years to make Christmas better for those in need.

Our churches, civic groups and clubs, businesses, families and individuals all came together to make this project work.

Each year we have special people, some we know, and some we don't, help to bring everything together.

The community continues to support the project and the angel tree.

A special thank you to the people who bring in that extra toy or the woman who wants to do some last-minute shopping. This is what makes this project special.

Union County shows it is a community of giving and sharing that pulls together in hard times – the type of place you want to belong to and be from, a community with a big heart. Thank you again for your support.
