Dean Stoodley
Dean Stoodley, 72, of Makanda, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
She was born on March 30, 1938, in Louisville, Ky., to Earl and Martha (Cripps) Kendall.
She married George Bruce “Joe” Stoodley on Dec. 24, 1955. He survives her.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Carbondale and United Methodist Women. Dean was a fantastic cook. She was a loving mother and friend who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Dean is survived by her husband, George Bruce “Joe” Stoodley of Makanda; two sons, Steve (Keri) Stoodley of Makanda and Jerry (Angie) Stoodley of Salsbury, N.C.; one daughter, Donna Stoodley of Makanda; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Brittany) Stoodley of Marion, Nicole Stoodley and Lauren Stoodley, both of Makanda, Ethan Stoodley, Logan Stoodley and Mason Stoodley, all of Salsbury, N.C.; one great-grandchild, Madison Stoodley of Marion, Ill.; one brother, Shirley “Slick” Kendall of Louisville, Ky.; a special friend, Cleta Jo Shirley of Carterville; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jerry, Bob and Rudy Kendall; and two sisters, Mary Lou Taylor and Midge Landrum.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Sabo officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, Old Route 13 between Carbondale and Murphysboro.
Memorials can be made to the Grace United Methodist Church building fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
