Dongola defeats Shawnee in SEC tournament play
Dongola avenged a previous loss to Shawnee with a 76-67 win over the Redskins on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
The win for the Demons advanced them to the second round of the South Egyptian Conference high school boys’ basketball tournament played in Dongola last week.
Jordan Eads led the way for the Demons with 23 points. Austin Hinkle added 21 points, Tyler Eddleman 16, Brock Patterson 12 and Darius Schauer 4.
Andrew Livesay scored 30 points to lead the Redskins. Aiden McMahan added 17 points, Adam Pennington 8, Gavyn Ellet and Brandon Pind 5 each and Gary Pind 2.
Dongola led 20-11 after one quarter and 37-30 at halftime. The Demons led 55-47 heading into the final period.
Century 56, Cobden 32: The Centurions built an early lead on their way to the first-round tournament win Wednesday, Jan. 18.
Century led 18-6 after one quarter and 32-14 at halftime.
Tyler Lewey scored 16 points to lead the Appleknockers. Austin Flamm added 8 points, Parker Flamm 4 and Joseph Eck and Nathan Sweitzer 2 each.
Egyptian defeated Joppa 80-42 in the other first-round game.
