Dorothy L. Martin

Dorothy L. Martin, 82, of Anna, died at 11:20 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at her home.

She was born on May 8, 1929, in Caney, Kan., the daughter of David E. and Josie May Woods Ellyson.

She married Maynard D. Martin on Nov. 24, 1946, in Dewey, Okla. He preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 1983.

She was a charter member of the Anna Heights Baptist Church. She liked to teach children in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and serving refreshments at the church. She was an avid gardener.

She is survived by her five children, Larry (Karen) Martin of Anna, Sandra (Wesley) Karraker of Cobden, Linda (Jim) Dallas of Jonesboro, Karen (Michael) Zelten of Murphysboro and Teresa Martin Jacobs of Montgomery; 13 grandchildren, Michael (Anne) Martin, Michelle (Greg) Willis, Robert Karraker, Jimmie Karraker, Kathy Karraker, Jama (Dana) Eddleman, Preston (Andrea) Dallas, Brent Zelten, John Zelten, Noelle and Kylie Jacobs, Sarah (Ray) Hansel, Maynard Dean Agne and Andrea (Dusty) Hammer; 14 great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Kyle Martin, Gracen, Keller, Ellison and Eylan Willis, Kelsie (Brandon) Ramsey, Karlie and Seth Eddleman, Nicholas and Shannon Dallas, Trinity Tellor, Katy and Nathaniel Agne and Evan Hoffman; one great-great-grandchild, Jayden Ramsey; and a sister, Betty Kier of Anna.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard; a son, Terry; her parents; and siblings Ed Ellyson, Floyd Ellyson, Lavon Herring, Eva Cockran, Russell Ellyson and Viola Vernon.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro with the Rev. Mitch Jackson officiating. Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery.
