<p align="center"><strong>DOROTHY LAVERNE VERNON</strong>

<strong>         Mrs. Dorothy LaVerne Vernon, age 85 of Anna, formerly of Jonesboro, died at 3:34 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was born January 3, 1928 in Pocahontas, Missouri, the daughter of Reginald Otto and Alma Rosalia Schoen Swan. She married George William Vernon on November 6, 1948 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 7, 2005.</strong>

<strong>         Dorothy is survived by one son, George William “Bill” Jr. (Marilyn) Vernon of Anna; two daughters, Mary Beth (Phillip) Smith of Grand Blanc, MI, and Candace Kay (Matthew) R. Linton of Anna; six grandchildren, Phillip Jeffrey (Alma) Smith, Nicholas Aaron Smith, Thomas  Andrew (Tausha) Vernon, Samantha Dawn (Justin Waid), Alexander Matthew Linton, Christopher Aaron Linton; three great grandchildren, Hunter Waid, Sofia Smith, Layne Vernon; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George William Vernon; one sister, Kathryn Garcia Noble; two brothers, Norman and Leonard Swan.</strong>

<strong>         Dorothy was a member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna for many years. She was co-owner/operator of the Vernon Furniture Center in Anna.</strong>

<strong>         When Dorothy was younger she loved to sing in the church choir. She loved to cook for her family and was very family oriented. She will be warmly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew her.</strong>

<strong>         Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy LaVerne Vernon will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna with Pastor Kathy Montira officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Mr. Moriah Lutheran Church or to the Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna and at the church.</strong>
