Dr. Dolores Gore
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Dr. Dolores Gore, 85, of Clarksville, TN formerly of Olmsted, IL died at 6:45 AM on November 3, 2011 at Cedarhurst Memory Care in Shiloh, IL.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">She was born on December 19, 1925 in Ullin, the daughter of Alfred William and Bertha (Schultz) Shumaker.<span style=""> </span> She married Forrest Gore on August 3, 1941.<span style=""> </span> He survives her.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Dr. Dolores Gore received an Ed.D at University of Arkansas, earned a master’s degree from Southwest Missouri State University and a bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University.<span style=""> </span> She was a professor at Austin Peay State University from 1981 until retirement in 2005.<span style=""> </span> She began her career as a first grade teacher in San Antonio, TX. Among other honors, she received: The</span> <span style="font-size: 14pt;">Distinguished Professor Award, 1998, given for outstanding teaching and determined by faculty, Austin Peay State University; The Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Faculty Award for Community Service, 1992, based on service to the greater Clarksville community, with emphasis placed on contributions that have enhanced, or will enhance, the quality of life in the Clarksville/Montgomery County area;<span style=""> </span> The Richard M. Hawkins Award, 1986, given for outstanding achievement in scholarship or creative activity at Austin Peay State University;</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">The Big Apple Award, 1983, most outstanding teacher of the year award selected by students at Austin Peay State University.<span style=""> </span> She was a longtime member of Rotary Club of Clarksville, TN and received the Paul Harris Fellow Award.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">She is survived by her husband;</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">1 son, Kenneth (Jennifer) Gore of Mexico, MO;</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">2 daughters, Beverly (Dr. Gerald) Stott of Cape Girardeau, MO and Janice (Frank) Cappelletti of O’Fallon, IL;</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">12 Grandchildren: Bradley (Samantha) Gore of Branson, MO; Kendra Gore of Branson, MO; Kylah Gore and Gabe Marley of Mexico, MO; Bryan (Jennifer) Cappelletti of Grants Pass, OR; Drs. Dorrie (Trevor) Tredway, O’Fallon, IL; Lance ( Elizabeth) Stott of Austin, TX; Dr. Tonia Stott of Chandler, AZ; Justin Stott of Cape Girardeau, MO; Aaron Stott of Arcata, CA; Ryan (Rachel) Stott of Cedar Hill, MO; and Wendy Stott of Milwaukee, WI;</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">10 Great Grandchildren: Jack and Allie Tredway, Sage Stott, Evelyn Stott, Sariah Stott, Annikah Stott, Kylyn Stott, Thomas Allen, Jordan Bell and Austin Bell;</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Siblings: Jill (Bill) Insco of St. Charles, IL, Dorothy Hileman and Jackie (Dick Cahill) Tredup all of Elgin, IL and Bill (Sandy) Shumaker of Morresville, NC; brother-in-law, Calvin Gore of Swansea, IL; many nieces and nephews.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">She was preceded in death by her parents</span><span style="font-size: 14pt;">; in-laws: Don and Wilma Gore, Carlos and Maxine Gore, Monroe Hileman; and nephew Kevin Insco.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Tabernacle Christian School, 303 Market Street, Clarksville, TN 37040 and will be accepted at the church.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Special thanks to the kindness and care Mom received at Cedarhurst Memory Care, Shiloh, IL and to Passages Hospice.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 4:00 PM at the Olmsted United Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy Terry, Sr. officiating.<span style=""> </span> Visitation will be held immediately following services until 9:00 PM on November 6, 2011 at the church.<span style=""> </span> Interment will be held on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 12:30 PM at Mound City National Cemetery.</span></p>
