Driver hurt in accident on interstate

A Texas man sustained injuries as the result of a traffic accident which happened early Friday morning, Dec. 9, in Union County.

Illinois State Police at Ullin reported that a semi-trailer rollover crash happened at 1:42 a.m. Friday at milepost 32 in the southbound lane of Interstate 57.

State police reported that the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle. The semi rolled over and blocked both southbound lanes of traffic.

The driver of the semi was identified as Jose Trevino, 43, of Mercedes, Texas.

Trevino sustained minor injuries. He was transported by ambulance to Union County Hospital in Anna for treatment.

Traffic was routed through a rest area along the southbound lane for about six and a half hours.

State police reported that the driver was cited for improper lane usage and for driving more than 11 hours.
