<p class="p1">Edna B. Hess, 97, of Metropolis, and formerly of Union County, died at 7:50 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Southgate Nursing and Rehab in Metropolis.</p><p class="p1">She was born on Nov. 27, 1917, in Ware, the daughter of Charles Fredrick and Cora Batson Lowrance.</p><p class="p1">She married Wayne Hess on Jan. 24, 1945. He preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1991.</p><p class="p1">She and her husband, Wayne, moved to Metropolis, in 1964 as Wayne was transferred as manager of P.N. Hirsch department store, where they lived the rest of their lives.</p><p class="p1">She was a homemaker.</p><p class="p1">She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Hess of Metropolis; a son, John (Lynn) Hess of Roland, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Eric Hess of Renton, Washington and Blake (Crystal) Hess of Renton, Washington; a niece, Barbara (Paul) Prinster of O'Fallon, Missouri, nephew, Stephen (Angie) Corzine of Florrisant, Missouri, Rich, Charlotte and Anna Avitt of St. Louis; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives.</p><p class="p1">She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters Thelma Modglin and Louise Corzine; brothers-in-law Edward Modglin and Richard Corzine; nephew Edward Lee Modglin; niece Nancy Modglin; and an infant brother, Charles Fredrick Jr.</p><p class="p1">Visitation for Edna Hess was Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.</p><p class="p1">Funeral services was at noon Saturday, Dec. 13, at Crain Funeral Home Anna-Jonesboro, with the Rev. Brett Yates officiating.
