Egyptian FFA members attend recent leadership conference

<p class="p1">Students from FFA chapters throughout Illinois attended a recent 212 Leadership Conference. </p><p class="p1">The conference is an activity of the National FFA Organization made possible by the title sponsor Syngenta as a special project of the National FFA Foundation. </p><p class="p1">Kelsey McCrite, Rileigh Petermichel, Hannah Robinson and Madelyn Smith from the FFA chapter at Egyptian High School in Tamms attended the event, which was Jan. 29-30 in Collinsville.</p><p class="p1">The number 212 represents, in Farenheit degrees, the temperature at which water boils.</p><p class="p1">Event organizers said that the 212 conference focuses on "taking students to the boiling point of personal leadership. At 211 water is extremely hot, but just one more degree gets us to the next level."  </p><p class="p1">The two-day 212 Leadership Conference focused on student development and was designed to help FFA members become aware of all aspects of personal growth. </p><p class="p1">FFA members attended sessions on mental, emotional, physical and social growth. The goal is to have students leave the experience with a personal plan for self-improvement.</p><p class="p1">This school year, more than 7,500 students across the nation are scheduled to participate in a 212 or 360 Leadership Conference.</p><p class="p1">The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 629,367 student members who belong to one of 7,757 local FFA chapters throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.</p>
