Filing begins Monday for 2015 Anna election

<p class="p1">Filing began on a rainy Monday morning for the 2015 Anna municipal election. Anna voters will elect a mayor and four commissioners (city council members) next year. The filing period continues through Monday, Dec. 22. The election is set for April 7, 2015.</p><p class="p1">Incumbent officeholders in Anna include Jim Cross, who is serving as mayor; and Michael Bigler, David Isom, Al Kamp and Martha Ann Webb, who are serving as city council members.</p><p class="p1">Mayor Cross confirmed Monday morning that he has decided to not seek reelection in 2015.</p><p class="p1">Two candidates filed nominating petitions for mayor on Monday.</p><p class="p1">Former mayor and city council member Steve Hartline filed a nominating petition. Current city council member Michael Bigler joins Hartline as a candidate for mayor.</p><p class="p1">Incumbent city council members David Isom, Al Kamp and Martha Ann Webb also filed nominating petitions and will seek reelection in 2015. Newcomer Brandon Bierstedt also filed for the city council.</p><p class="p1">A lottery will be held to determine ballot positions for the candidates who filed on Monday. The lottery became necessary because all of the candidates filed at the same time Monday morning.</p><p class="p1">Anna City Clerk Chris Jones said that the lottery is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 22. The lottery will be conducted at 9 a.m. at Anna City Hall.</p><p class="p2"> </p><p class="p2"> </p><p class="p2"> </p>



<p class="p1">Anna municipal election candidates and their representatives gathered Monday morning in the conference room at Anna City Hall. Those present included Brandon Bierstedt, Al Kamp, Steve Hartline, city clerk Chris Jones, Martha Ann Webb, David Isom and D.D. Bigler. </p>
