Fish fry set in Cobden will benefit Cross of Peace

A fish fry is planned this week for the benefit of a Union County landmark.

The fish fry is set for Friday, Jan. 15, in the parish hall at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cobden. Serving is planned from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Friday’s event will help to raise funds for restoration work at the Cross of Peace on Bald Knob Mountain near Alto Pass.

This will be the second year that area churches have cooperated to have a fish fry for the benefit of the cross.

Last year, representatives from 13 area churches came together and raised approximately $4,000 for the restoration of the landmark.

This year, organizers are hoping to surpass the $4,000 mark in the amount of funds which are raised.

A silent auction also is planned during the evening.

The price of the fish dinner will be $10 for adults. The price for children under 12 will be $5.

Donations of baked goods are welcomed. Volunteers are invited to help with the fish fry.
