Flood aid available

The 12th Congressional District in Southern Illinois is eligible for nearly $3 million in federal funds to help with repairs to roads damaged by flooding in the spring of 2011.

U.S. Rep. Jerry Costello, D-Ill., said the district is eligible for federal funding as part of a $2,961,793 grant to the Illinois Department of Transportation from the Federal Highway Administration.

Union County is part of the 12th District, which Costello serves.

Costello said the funds will be used to reimburse the state for repairs made to roads that were damaged in the 12th, 15th and 19th Congressional Districts by last spring's flooding.
