Flood fight volunteers to be honored
<p class="p1">The volunteers efforts of those who helped during a recent major flood in the region are going to be recognized.</p><p class="p1">The employees of Shawnee Community Unit School District No. 84 are planning to have a flood fighters feast to recognize those who volunteered during the flood which impacted the area at the end of December and early January.</p><p class="p1">The feast is planned Saturday, March 5, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the multipurpose room at Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake.</p><p class="p1">The meal is a come-and-go event, with a ceremony planned at 5 p.m.</p><p class="p1">Shawnee alumni Evan Webb will perform his song "Dry Up or Drown," which is about the flooding in this area. The music video was shot locally.</p><p class="p1">Those who plan to attend are asked to make a reservation by Friday, Feb. 26.
