Frank “Doc” Chamness
Mr. Frank “Doc” Chamness, age 69 of Anna, died at 5:47 a.m. Sunday, December 16, 2012 in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. He was born October 29, 1943 in Anna, the son of Frank and Eva Elizabeth Kinder Chamness.
Doc is survived by his son, Tim (Cindy) Chamness of Anna; three grandchildren, Josie, Katie and Jenna Chamness; one great grandchild, Jalynn Chamness-Moss ; he will forever be loved by Debi Thornton of Anna; one brother, Robert Chamness of Anna; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred and Larry Chamness; one niece Nikki Nicole Bowen; one nephew, Mark Chamness; and two sisters in law, Pat and Norma Chamness.
Doc was an avid Anna Jonesboro, Saluki and Chicago Bear fan. He supported Wildcat football for many years, working on the “chain gang” during the mid 1980 seasons and later on tailgating home games at the Pit with family and friends. Doc was instrumental starting the youth football league, where he coached for many years. He loved to travel, especially to the Gulf Coast. For over forty years he worked as an over the road truck driver.
Doc proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Funeral services for Frank “Doc” Chamness will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Paul Sadler officiating. Interment will be in the Casper Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or St. Jude Medical Center. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
