Fred L. Chamness Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">Fred L. Chamness, 74, of Davenport, FL, formerly of Anna, died at 10:56am Friday, Dec. 31, 2010 surrounded by family at Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Haines City, FL.</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">He was born August 21, 1936 to Frank and Eva (Kinder) Chamness.<span style=""> </span> He married Norma J. Dwinell on May 21, 1957 in Anna.<span style=""> </span> She preceded him in death on November 7, 2008.</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">He graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in 1954.<span style=""> </span> He attended Southeast Missouri State University and graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s degree in History and a minor in math.<span style=""> </span> He completed his Masters Degree in Political Science at Northern Arizona University in 1968.<span style=""> </span> Fred was a teacher, football, and track coach the majority of his life where he influenced the lives of students, athletes and peers.</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">He survived by 2 sons, Fred M. (Terresa) Chamness of Kissimmee, FL and Tony Chamness of Marion, IL;</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">3 daughters, Debbie (Robin) Dillon, Alice (David) Ury and Cathy Stearns all of Jonesboro;</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">11 grandchildren;</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">2 brothers, Robert <span style=""> </span>“Bob” and Frank “Doc” Chamness both of Anna;</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">Nieces, nephews and other relatives.</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma his wife of 51 years, 1 brother, Larry Chamness, 1 granddaughter, Nikki N. Bowen, 2 Nephews, Mark Chamness and Danny Dwinell, and 2 sisters-in-law, Patricia Chamness and Carole Dwinell.</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00PM on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">Funeral Services will be held on January 22, 2011 at 10:00AM at Crain Funeral Home with Bill Littrell officiating.<span style=""> </span> Interment will follow in Casper Cemetery.</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 16pt;">Memorials can be made to the Fred L. Chamness Athletic Scholarship Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.</span></strong></p>
