Gary Louis Orlandini

Mr. Gary Louis Orlandini, born March 12, 1948 in LaSalle, Illinois passed on from this world in the early hours of Tuesday, December 11, 2012 with his loving wife Noella, daughter Karen Beth, and vineyard dog, Vinnie by his side.

Gary is survived by his wife Noella, adoring daughters Julie Orlandini (fiancée Jeremiah Claussen) and Karen Orlandini, mother Josephine Orlandini, brothers Harold (Harry), Michael, Richard and sister Carol Ann Orlandini. He was a loving grandfather to Jeremiah John and Kylie Neve Claussen-Orlandini whom lovingly called him Papa and gave him immense joy over the past two years. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Orlandini

He retired from his business, G.O. Insulation, to take on grape growing, or as he would call it, “wine growing” and winemaking. Gary was a premier winemaker at Orlandini Vineyard on the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail and was the mentor to numerous winemakers throughout the region. People returned from far and wide to visit with him at his winery to enjoy his charm, his humorous stories, and knowledge about our wonderful region. Orlandini Vineyard is a favorite destination on the Shawnee Wine Trail.

Gary was an avid and political aficionado reader who shared his passion with many friends. He could always be counted on to discuss many historical facts that still could be up for debate. He was an expert in Civil War history, commanding many an hour with his friends of like. He was a founder of the recently formed “American Voices for Truth”, an activist organization promoting truth in political expression.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held from 2-5pm Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Blue Sky Vineyard in Makanda, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to P.A.W.S. or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna and at Blue Sky Vineyard on Saturday.
