H. Burton Banks Jr
H. Burton Banks, Jr., age 61, of Paducah passed away at 6:28 a.m. November 24, 2010, at Western Baptist Hospital.
Mr. Banks was the owner of Banks Grocery Co. / SuperValu Foods of Paducah and Cairo, Ill., and H.B. & Co. Clothing Store. He was a member of the Barkley Regional Airport Board and a supporter and contributor of many local charities. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and proud of his country. He enjoyed spending time in Estes Park, Colorado and Big Thompson Canyon, Colorado where he had many fond childhood memories.
He was former owner of Wonder Market which operated in Jonesboro, Cairo, Paducah and other locations.
H. Burton Banks, Jr., is survived by his wife, Renee Mathis Banks and his mother, Geneva Penrod Banks of Paducah. He is survived by two daughters, Whitney Ann Banks of Franklin, Tenn., and Sidney Banks Benson of Hilton Head, S.C.; and by two sons, Harold Burton Banks, III of Paducah and James Edward Banks of Charlotte, N.C. He leaves behind a sister, Jeane Banks Framptom and husband, Joe of Paducah and a half-sister, Linda Banks of Waynesville, N.C. He was affectionately known as “BuDaddy” to his three grandchildren, Calley Sutton Zorn, Jr., August Burton Zorn and Luke Anthony Benson.
Mr. Banks was preceded in death by his father, Harold Burton Banks, Sr.
A public visitation for H. Burton Banks, Jr., will start at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. A private graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2010, at Mt. Kenton Cemetery with Kerry Lynn officiating.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Country Club of Paducah.
