H1N1 vaccine supply update

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced that effective on Dec. 15, all persons six months of age and older now are eligible to receive the H1N1 vaccine.

Southern Seven Health Department, which serves Union County, reports that it now has "a sufficient amount of vaccine on hand and encourages everyone to get vaccinated."

During December, Southern Seven staff members have been visiting area schools to offer the vaccine to school children.

The health department plans to continue to offer late clinic hours and Saturday clinics until demand for the vaccine has been met.

Area residents are advised to contact their local Southern Seven Health Department clinic for an appointment.

One of the health department's clinics is located in Jonesboro.

Additional walk-in clinics are scheduled at Southern Seven locations, including:

Jan. 5, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pulaski County Public Health Clinic, Shawnee Community College Rustic Campus, Ullin.

Jan. 9, 8 a.m. to noon, Landmark Pentecost Church, 305 W. Vienna St., Anna.
