Harold W. Locke Jr.

Harold W. Locke Jr., 83, of Jackson, Mo., died at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on Dec. 9, 1928, in Akron, Ohio, the son of Harold William and Merna Ewart Locke Sr.

He married Peggy Childs on March 1, 1951.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was owner and operator of Locke Distributing for 35 years. He managed four warehouses throughout Southeast Missouri.

He was a member of the American Legion, Elks Club No. 639 and charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3775. He liked hunting, fishing and was an avid boat racer.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; one son, David (Kathryn) Locke of Jackson, Mo.; one daughter, Tracy Schott of Cape Girardeau; one granddaughter, Victoria Rae Locke of Jackson; two grandsons, Justin David Schott of Cape Girardeau and Jordan William Schott of Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

At his request, private graveside services will be held at a later date.

Memorials can be made to the American Lung Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Crain Funeral Home, 829 N. West End Blvd., Cape Girardeau, is in charge of arrangements.
