Home Town Award

Congratulations to all of those who were involved in last year's celebration of the 150th anniversary of the historic Lincoln-Douglas debate in Jonesboro.

Many, many hours of volunteer service went into preparing for the 2008 celebration.

That hard work paid off last week when Union County received a Governor's Home Town Award. The award was presented in recognition of the successful Lincoln-Douglas celebration.

We congratulate all of those who were involved in last year's sesquicentennial celebration. Your hard work paid off in a very big way.

<strong>Honoring our veterans</strong>

Union County will join the rest of the country next week in honoring America's veterans. Veterans' Day is Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Please take a moment out of your busy schedule to pause and give thanks to those who have, and are, serving our country and protecting our freedom.
