A-J FBLA members receive awards at area conference
The Illinois Future Business Leaders of America, FBLA, Southern Area Conference was held Thursday, Jan. 14, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Four-hundred-sixty-four advisers, members and guests registered from 18 area schools: Anna-Jonesboro, Carbondale, Carterville, Christ Our Savior Lutheran in Evansville, Du Quoin, Hamilton County, Harrisburg, Herrin, Marion, Mt. Vernon, Murphysboro, Pinckneyville, Shawnee, Sparta, Steeleville, Trico, Waltonville and Waterloo.
The theme of the conference was "FBLA: Simply the Best."
As a member of the Southern Area, A-JCHS FBLA's Elise Wheaton, who is chapter treasurer, gave the Union County school's chapter report at the conference.
A-J students who won awards at the conference included:
Jordan Adams, first in business law. Dylan Barker, first in computer problem solving. Jeni Keller, second in business procedures. Mason Hayward, second in business math. Tristan James, third in job interview. Lauren Capel, third in impromptu speaking. Caleb Johnson, third in Word Processing I. Jessi Stone, third in personal finance.
