A-J finishes fourth at Eldorado tourney
Anna-Jonesboro finished in fourth place in the Eldorado high school boys’ holiday basketball tournament.
A-J wrapped up play in the tournament Tuesday, Dec. 29.
The Wildcats’ Jordan Adams was named to the all-tournament team.
Following are game summaries:
Herrin 55, A-J 51: The Wildcats were outscored 7-3 in overtime in the third-place game played on Dec. 29.
A-J led 12-11 after one quarter and 27-21 at the half. The Wildcats held a 34-33 lead going into the final period.
The Tigers fought back to a 48-48 tie at the end of regulation play.
J.R. Woodward scored 13 points and had 16 rebounds to lead A-J. Gabe Pecord added 11 points and 6 rebounds.
Brady Wright had 10 points and 3 rebounds. Adams had 8 points and 2 rebounds. Cody Livesay had 6 points. Tylor Duckworth had 5 points and 2 rebounds.
The Wildcats were 13 of 37 in shot attempts from the floor, 6 of 15 from 3-point range and 9 of 18 from the free throw line.
Alex Brown had 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Tigers, who were 22 of 36 in shot attempts from the field, 2 of 12 from 3-point range and 5 of 10 from the charity stripe.
Meridian 60, A-J 49: The Bobcats led 13-9 after one quarter and 26-24 at the half of the Dec. 29 game. Meridian held a 44-41 lead going into the final period.
Wright had 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead A-J. Adams had 11 points and 4 rebounds. Pecord had 9 points and 5 rebounds. Duckworth had 8 points and 4 rebounds. Livesay had 5 points and Jacob Brimm 3.
The Wildcats were 17 of 44 in shot attempts from the floor, 3 of 18 from 3-point range and 6 of 7 from the free throw line.
A-J, 7-7, is scheduled to play Friday, Jan. 8, at home against Chester.
