A-J girls struggle in three recent games

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Anna-Jonesboro  Community High School girls’ basketball team struggled in recent action, falling to West Frankfort, Carterville and Marion.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>West Frankfort 63, A-J 31:</strong> Elle Basler had 13 points, 12 rebounds and an assist in the loss to the host Lady Redbirds Thursday, Dec. 11.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Balyie Denny added 6 points, 4 assists and a rebound. Ally Reynolds had 4 points and 5 rebounds. Hunter Denny had 4 points and 3 rebounds. Haley Inman added 4 points.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">“We actually didn’t play too bad against a 10-0 West Frankfort team,”  A-J coach Matt Denny said. “They are really good, we just didn’t knock down some shots when we had the chance.”</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Carterville 52, A-J 43:</strong> Basler led the way with 17 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists in the loss to the host Lady Lions Tuesday, Dec. 9.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Hunter Denny added 8 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds. Balyie Denny had 7 points, an assist and a rebound. Connar Hadley had 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Lexa Sharp had 3 points and Inman 1.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">“This was probably the best game we’ve played all year,” Denny said. “We got down early but didn’t lay down.”</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Marion 50, A-J 25:</strong> Basler led the way with 10 points, 3 rebounds and an assist to the host Lady Wildcats Dec. 4.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Erikah Parks had 5 points. Inman added 4 points and 2 rebounds. Balyie Denny had 3 points and 2 rebounds. Reynolds had 2 points.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">A-J, 2-6, is scheduled to play Thursday, today, at Du Quoin.</span></p>
