James ‘Archie’ Slagle

James “Archie” Slagle, 84, of Alpena, Mich., formerly of Karnak, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at his home in Alpena.

He was born in Rosiclare on Oct. 20, 1926.

Mr. Slagle was manager for Fuel Gas until 1976 and retired from the State of Illinois in 1982.

He is survived by one son, Michael M. Slagle of Alpena; one sister, Maxine Gunter of New Mexico; a brother-in-law, James and Joyce Collins of Karnak; special friends Karyl Horowitz and Tammy Horowitz; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Martha Tinsley Slagle, and by his wife, Florence Little Slagle.

Graveside funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Anderson Cemetery in Boaz.

Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak was in charge of arrangements.
