James E. “Jim” Clardy
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">James E. “Jim” Clardy, 72, of Anna, passed away at 5:45am Sunday, December 04, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family.<span style=""> </span></span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">He was born on his father’s birthday, Feb. 11, 1939 in Anna, the son of Elbert and Louise Wall Clardy.<span style=""> </span> His father had been killed in a farming accident a few months before Jim was born.</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">On Apr. 9, 1961, Jim was united in marriage to Eleanor Miller, who was his devoted wife of 50 years and caregiver the past 19 years after he suffered a paralyzing stroke at age 53.<span style=""> </span></span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Before he was disabled, Jim worked as a coal miner at Old Ben Mine #26, was a truck driver, but was best known as Anna’s Pepsi delivery man for many years after moving back home to Anna from Joliet where he was employed at Stateville Prison for 10 years.<span style=""> </span></span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Dongola.</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; 3 daughters, Gloria (Todd) Blandford of Marion, Teresa (Tony) Goins of Anna, and Sonya (Rich) Fabec of Anna; 5 grandchildren, Megan, Morgan, Lauren, Alexis, and Garrett; 3 brothers, Elbert (Shirley) Clardy of Anna, Vernon “Gene” (Dortha) Claridy of West Frankfort, Dewayne (Jean) Lazenby of Wisconsin; 1 sister, Sheilah (Jim) Whittington of Anna; brothers-in-law, Carol (Phyllis) Miller and Gerald (Glenna) Miller all of Anna, Larry (Jane) Miller of Cobden; sisters-in-law, Ann Etta Seliger of Monee, IL, Donna Miller of Anna, Cynthia (Larry) Hall of Florida, Betty (Max) Casey of Buncombe, Janet (Jack) Treece of Marissa; step brother-in-law, Jim (Rhonda) Brumitt of Jonesboro; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.</span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">He was preceded in death by his father, Elbert Clardy, mother, Louise Lazenby, step father Lawrence Lazenby, sister Bermadean Pender, sister-in-law Joyce Miller, brother-in-law George Seliger, parents-in-law Cynthia, Lester, and Fannie Miller.<span style=""> </span></span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Visitation for Jim Clardy will be from 4-7 Monday at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Funeral services will be at 2pm Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Crain Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Goins and Rev. Dewayne McCall officiating.<span style=""> </span> Interment will follow in Anna Cemetery.</span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.<span style=""> </span> Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.<span style=""> </span></span></strong></p>
