A-JCHS hosts first home bowling meet
Anna-Jonesboro Community High School’s new bowling team hosted its first home bowling meet Tuesday.
The team’s home meets will be played at The Strike Zone in Anna.
A-J faced Johnston City Tuesday in Anna.
The A-J boys scored a 2,222-2,145 victory. Scores are based on pin totals.
The A-J girls were outscored by the visitors by a score of 1,772-1,695.
The A-J boys won by 77 pins; the girls lost by the same margin.
David Wild is serving as coach of the new A-J bowling team. Wild, who is retired, is a volunteer.
The team has eight girls and 11 boys.
Prior to this week’s action, the A-J team had competed Nov. 29 at Carterville and Nov. 30 at Carbondale. The home teams won both of those matches.
A-J’s next home meet is set for 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, at The Strike Zone.
Bowling is sanctioned by the Illinois High School Association.
