Joan Bartruff

Joan Bartruff, 81, of Anna, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at her home in Anna.

She was born on Jan. 26, 1932, in Jonesboro, the daughter of Clarence and Virgie Bass Tweedy.

She married Harold Bartruff on Feb. 17, 1951, in Jonesboro. He preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1991.

She is survived by her two sons, Terry (Brenda) Bartruff of Anna and Bryan (Kim) Bartruff of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Ashlee Bartruff and fiance Josh Stegle, Kyle (Keelie) Bartruff and Paige Bartruff; two brothers, Clarence “Bob” (Ruby) Tweedy of Goreville and Mike (Bonnie) Tweedy of Anna; two sisters, Janice “Mickey” Lewellyn of Anna and Carol Gordon of Virginia Beach, Va.; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; one brother, Richard “Dick” Tweedy; and two sisters, Christine Bost and Bernadine Sadler.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Jonesboro, the Red Hat Society, the Anna VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Lions Club and the Eastern Star. She worked many years in the activity department at Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bartruff will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, today, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with the Rev. Bob Fear officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the United Methodist Church of Jonesboro.
