Jonesboro girls 7-0 after three victories
The Jonesboro School junior high school girls’ basketball team won three games in recent action.
Jonesboro 46, Meridian 39: Taylor Smith had 11 points to lead visiting Jonesboro to the win Monday, Nov. 21.
Jaycee Pender added 7 points and 2 steals. Madi Calhoun had 7 points, 4 steals and 4 assists. DaKota Hileman had 9 rebounds. Jamie Hammond added 9 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Aliah Delgado had 2 steals.
Pender scored 21 points and had 5 rebounds, 4 steals and a blocked shot to lead Jonesboro to a 39-16 win over Meridian in the junior varsity game.
Breezy Leslie added 8 points. Lexi Smith had 6 points and 3 steals. Hileman had 6 rebounds and an assist. Amy Glasco added 3 steals.
Jonesboro 39, Shawnee 31: Pender had 15 points, 10 rebounds and 9 steals to lead host Jonesboro to the win Thursday, Nov. 17.
Smith had 11 points, 9 steals and a blocked shot. Hammond had 10 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Calhoun had 10 rebounds and a blocked shot.
Hileman had 8 points and 11 rebounds to lead Jonesboro to a 22-5 win over Shawnee in the junior varsity game.
Hailley Abernathy had 8 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Smith, Leslie and Pender each had 8 rebounds.
Jonesboro 32, Anna 23: Smith had 15 points and 6 steals to lead visiting Jonesboro to the win Monday, Nov. 14.
Hammond had 7 points, 26 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists and 2 blocked shots. Calhoun had 12 rebounds and 4 steals. Pender had 4 steals.
Pender had 16 points, 3 steals and 2 assists to lead Jonesboro to a 38-17 win over Anna in the junior varsity game.
Smith had 8 points. Abernathy had 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Pender had 3 steals and Payton Alsip and Lexi Tripp had 2 points each. Hileman had 2 assists.
Jonesboro’s varsity is 7-0 and is the top seeded team in the Southern Illini Conference Tournament at Cobden. Jonesboro’s junior varsity is 6-2.
