Kenneth Benjamin Dexter

Kenneth Benjamin Dexter, 88, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, in Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.

Mr. Dexter was born April 19, 1922, in Ullin, the son of Ben and Ella (Mowery) Dexter.

Kenneth was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Ullin, a World War II Army veteran and a retired dairy farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul and Ralph Dexter; and a sister, Wanda Lentz.

Survivors include his wife, Helen (Miller) Dexter of Ullin; a son, Kenneth B. (Carmen) Dexter of Ullin; a daughter, Ruth Ella (Reed T.) Arrott II of Betavia; two sisters, Carol Jean Adams of Ullin and Jeraldine Boundreau of Crosswell, Mich.; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, in Crossroads United Methodist Church in Ullin, with Pastor Cecil R. Atchison officiating. Interment will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge with full military honors conducted by Illinois National Guard Military Honor Details and area veterans. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to Illinois Veterans Home Recreation Active Fund, 792 N. Main St., Anna, IL 62906, or TIP Hospice, 125 Leigh Drive, Suite D, Anna, IL 62906 in memory of Mr. Dexter.

Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge is in charge of arrangements.
