Lady ‘Cats 60, Du Quoin 57

Jessi Stone scored 18 points to lead Anna-Jonesboro to a 60-57 win over visiting Du Quoin in Southern Illinois River-to-River Mississippi Division Conference high school girls’ basketball action Tuesday, Jan. 4.

Destiny Dillow scored 13 points for the Lady Wildcats. Chandra Parr added 10 points, Brooke Chamness 6, Emma Basler 5, Valerie Pender 4 and Rebecca Mitchell and Erica Friebel 2 apiece.

The Lady Indians led 12-8 after one quarter and 24-22 at the  half. The Lady Wildcats made a 19-9 run in the third quarter to build a 41-33 lead going into the final period.

“We came out the second half and got after it,” A-J coach Brian Clark said. “We made some adjustments at halftime. But I’m very pleased with our effort, it was a team effort.”

A-J improved to 9-9 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
