<p class="p1">Lynn Evans, 85, of Carterville, and formerly of Anna, died at 9:48 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at Parkway Manor in Marion.</p><p class="p1">He was born on March 15, 1930, in Anna, the son of Floyd Harold and Elsie Tillman Evans.</p><p class="p1">He married Virginia Clark on June 6, 1954, in Corinth, Mississippi. She preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 2002.</p><p class="p1">He served in the U.S. Army, and was active during the Korean War era.</p><p class="p1">He owned many service stations in his lifetime, as well as bowling alleys. He worked as a service manager at the Ryland Pearl Dealership in Anna, which later became known as Coad Chevrolet. He also worked in sales for Sherlock Holmes in his later working career.</p><p class="p1">He first and foremost loved Jesus. He also loved his family, making breakfast for his children, loved his pets, enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys football team, loved playing cards and loved to work in his yard keeping it and his rose garden very well-manicured.</p><p class="p1">He was very active in church in the community of Carterville, where he served as deacon at the First Christian Church and in his earlier life he also served as deacon at the First Christian Church in Anna.</p><p class="p1">He is survived by a son, Brian (Judy) Evans of Carbondale; two daughters, Valerie (Doug) Reed of Ocala, Florida and Erica (Roger) Garrison of Springfield; two sons, Mike (Monna) Watchinski of Morris and Marshall Watchinski of Perry, Florida; 11 grandchildren, including Keith (Katie) Evans of Durham, North Carolina, Melissa Evans of Nashville, Tennessee, Greg Kelley of Carterville, Joshua (Caitlin) Reed of Wichita, Kansas, Lindsay (Jonathan) Pollock of Clermont, Florida, Sydney Garrison of Springfield, Angela (Jamie) Bastian of Galesburg, Chele (Jorge) Arana of Joliet, Seth Watchinski of Morris, Stephanie (Dave) Stacy of Ottawa, Illinois, and Colby Watchinski of Pittsburg, Kansas; 12 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Eileen Robbins of Grand Chain, Bernita Frerichs of Danforth, Geneva Sechrest of Urbana, Helen Saddoris of Urbana and Donny Evans of Marion; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.</p><p class="p1">He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Evans, his parents, Floyd and Elsie Evans; and two brothers, Glenn Evans and Jerry Evans.</p><p class="p1">Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Crain Funeral Home Egyptian Chapel in Energy, with Doug Reed officiating. Interment was in Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy.</p><p class="p1">Full military honors were accorded by the Illinois honor guard and the local Herrin VFW Post No. 1567 and American Legion at the graveside.</p><p class="p1">Memorials can be made to the First Christian Church in Carterville.</p><p class="p1">To leave online condolences, visit www.crainsonline.com.</p><p class="p1">Crain Funeral Home Egyptian Chapel in Energy was in charge of arrangements.</p>
