Mabel C. Adams, 95, of Jonesboro, formerly Anna, died at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 at her home. She was born April 6, 1920 in Johnson County, the daughter of Garner and Myrtle Mathis Rion. She married Thomas E. Adams on Sept. 23, 1949 in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2015.
She is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Adams of Jonesboro, Merrilee Young of Anna; one son, Kenny (Frances) Baker of Oak Ridge, Missouri; five grandchildren, Cathy Young, Susan Young-Ederle, Martina Young-Montney, Lori Petot and Krista Baker-Carey; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas E. Adams; one great-grandson, Alexander Ederle; two brothers, Lonnie, Ewing and three infant Brothers; two sisters, Georgia Lyerla, and Aliene Alford.
She and her husband Thomas owned and operated the Southern BBQ in Anna for 16 years. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary for sixty-six years. She was very active in politics, working many elections in her precinct.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Joe Aldridge officiating. Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery.
