Mabel Marie Landreth

Mabel M. Landreth, 92, of Carbondale, and formerly of Cobden, died at 11:58 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Integrity Healthcare in Carbondale.

She was born in Jonesboro on Feb. 4, 1925, the daughter of Walter and Gertie Rothrock Winn.

She married James Dorris Landreth on Aug. 12, 1944, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2006.

She was a member of Walnut Grove Methodist Church near Cobden. She served as church janitor for many years. After moving to Carbondale in 2005, she enjoyed attending the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale. She worked alongside her husband on the family farm and enjoyed selling their vegetables at local farmers markets. She also worked many years cleaning homes. She enjoyed sewing, singing and cooking. Her family said her wonderful Sunday dinners will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Landreth Moore and son-in-law, Robert Moore of Carbondale; sisters-in-law Mary Landreth Winn of Cobden and Deloris Landreth of Jonesboro; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; many friends and caregivers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Dorris Landreth; two sisters, Flossie Winn and Dorothy Eaves; and two brothers, Carl and John Winn.

Funeral services for Mrs. Landreth were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Allan Rhein officiating. Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale choir fund.
