Madrigal, fabric art exhibit, bazaar set at Anna Arts Center

Shawnee Hills Arts Council plans to host a madrigal dinner and fabric art show at the Masters Center, 117 W. Davie St. in Anna, Friday, Nov. 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. as part of a holiday arts festival.

Madrigal Dinner

The event will feature music by Brian Carraker, Cody Foltz and Kristin Nance, and an exhibit of quilts and fabric art by Barbara Jahn, Common Threads Quilt Guild and other local quilters.

The dinner menu includes baked chicken, turkey tetrazinni, corn pudding, apple salad, holiday slaw, pumpkin torte, and Black Forest cake and will be catered by Get Healthy for Life and The Coffee Station.

Tickets are $15 and are available for reservation by calling 697-6285.

Madrigal music is an a capella style of singing that originated during the Renaissance and is the European source for many Christmas carols today.

Fabric Art Exhibit

The fabric art exhibit showcases a number of ways local fiber artists and quilters are being inspired to create using textiles and thread.

The exhibit will premiere as part of the madrigal musical dinner and will be open for viewing on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Nov. 27-28.

This opportunity to see the work of many talented local women and to visit the Anna Arts Center will continue Dec. 4-5, Dec.11-12 and Dec. 18-19.

Appointments for visits during the week can be arranged by calling Joanne Blakely at 618-697-6283 or Barbara Walter Jahn at 618-534-4623.

Christmas Bazaar

A Christmas bazaar is planned at the Artists Market at 125. W. Davie on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and continue Saturdays through Christmas (Dec. 4, 11, and 18), with paintings, handmade items and crafts, and books by local artists and authors, including Carol Dooley, John Parks, Abraham Hunter, Ken Burnside, Nancy Young, Kenny Brimm, Tim Heath, Joanne Blakley, Jim Lambert, and members of Shawnee Hills Writers Group.
