Marian Fay Michel

Marian Fay Michel, 82, of Dallas, Texas, and formerly of Anna, died peacefully in her home at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, with the help of Grace Hospice of Dallas.

Marian was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gherig’s disease)  on Dec. 21, 2012, after being treated over the previous several months for atrial fibrillation.

She elected not to go through possible surgical interventions, taking a more natural course and was able to carry on normal activities, including playing her piano, until a few days before her death.

Marian is survived by her husband, Don Michel and by a daughter, Jane McGarry (Kevin) and a son David Michel (Deborah), as well as two grandsons, John David Michel and Michael Gage McGarry, and a granddaughter Elizabeth Grace Michel, all of Dallas, Texas, and by a sister, Lynn Grace LeFevre (Gary) of Anna.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bishop and Grace Burd, and by a brother Phillip Burd.

Don and Marian Michel moved from their Anna home on May 9, 2012, to 6448 Pemberton Drive, Dallas, Texas 75230 to be nearer to their family members.

Funeral services for Marian Fay Michel will be at Highland Park United Methodist Church at 3300 Mockingbird Ln. in Dallas, Texas, Saturday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m., with a brief visitation period for family viewing in the church at 9 a.m.

Interment will be in the Sparkman/Hillcrest Memorial Park.
